BUYING A MEMORIAL
We are honored to design and craft a memorial to your specifications, preferences and budget. The options and choices can seem overwhelming, but we are here to guide you and answer any questions you may have.Below you will find some helpful information about the process.
Location
The size, style and design of a memorial can be impacted by its location. Knowing the cemetery, section, and size of the lot helps us ensure your custom design aligns with the requirements or restrictions the cemetery may have.
Examples of restrictions or requirements for some cemeteries:
- A specific style of monument is required for a certain section
- A religious symbol must be included on the stone
- Photos may or may not be allowed on the monument
Style of Memorial
There are many options for memorial styles, ranging from simple granite markers and monuments to large scale family mausoleums.
Type (color) of Granite
Most styles of granite memorials can be ordered in any of the granite colors (types) available from around the world.
Custom Design Options
In addition to the standard information included on a memorial—family name and/or indvidual(s) name, date of birth, date of passing—borders, carvings, pictures, or inscriptions can often be added to create a personal dedication for your loved one.
Final Details
Foundation Fee:
Most cemeteries require memorials to be installed on a cement foundation to help ensure level and support. The fee for the foundation does vary by cemetery, but will be calculated by us and included in the final price of your memorial order. We place the order with the cemetery for the foundation to be completed, and pass along that foundation fee to the cemetery.
Installation:
Once the foundation is poured and we have received and/or completed your memorial, we will set the stone and notify you that the work has been completed.
Payments, Billing, and Notification
At the time you place your order, we ask for a down payment of at least 50% of the order total. Of course, some customers also prefer to pay the full balance upfront, which is also welcome. We are willing to set up installment or recurring payments to pay your order deposit or total balance over time. *No work will begin on your order until we have received your deposit of at least 50%*
We accept checks, cash, credit cards, and ACH payments.
Payments can be made by mail, phone or in-person. Checks payable to Karl Lutz Monument Co.
Once our work is complete (memorial is installed in the cemetery) we will notify you via mail or email noting the date of completion, and billing for any balance owed on your order.
